Pemaquid Oyster Festival

An annual festival consisting of all the oysters farms located on the Damariscotta River. Typically held in late September. We always make sure to attend to showcase our oysters and celebrate with friends on the river. Proceeds are raised and donated for education opurtunities. 

Northeast Aquaculture Conference and Exposition (NACE)

A biannual regional meeting about all things regarding aquaculture. This usually takes place in January and we are lucky to send at least one representative to make connections and learn more about the industry.

Damariscotta River Clean-up!

A wonderful event hosted by Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust. All oysters farms pitch in together with Coastal Rivers to participate in a trash clean-up of the river we all rely on so much.

"Since its inception in 2003, the Edward A. Myers Fund has awarded over $175,000 in grants to many mid-coast organizations, with money raised through the Pemaquid Oyster Festival."

Other Resources

A non-profit trade association dealing with the aquaculture industry in the state of Maine. They produce quality content about sea farms while also informing the public about the benefits of farming shellfish, sea vegetables and finfish. 

A federal program that works with Universities to gather both scientists and public outreach experts together. The University of Maine works in tandem with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to support marine science within the state of Maine. 

A program established by Maine Legislature in order to assist in developing sea farms in Maine that are both economically and environmentally stable. They also assist in educating people of the benefits of aquaculture and invest in increasing the capacity for aquaculture in Maine amongst other things.

An interactive experience detailing where to purchase oysters along with venues that offer tours and raw bars throughout the coast of Maine. They also offer rewards for trying new locations and oysters. Perfect for anyone trying to expand their oyster palate.

A local extension of the University of Maine located right on the Damariscotta River. They pull together scientists, professors, and students to help aide the aquaculture industry and many other aspects of Marine Science.
